Southwind Bugz Tops Session Three

A final price of $335,000 proved to be the Thursday topper in session three of the Lexington Selected Yearling Sale, and it was owner Kenneth Jacobs of Baldwinsville, NY signing the ticket on the high-priced youngster.

Hip #368 Southwind Bugz, who was consigned by Preferred Equine Inc, is a son of Muscle Hill out of the Andover Hall mare, Missymae Bluestone. She’s already produced a pair of big money-winning siblings in Southwind Mozart (1:51.4) and Southwind Cocoa (1:55.2).

Hip #416 Ridin On Sunshine, from the first crop of Sunshine Beach, was purchase for $185,000 by Mount Hope, Ont.’s Gino Toscani. The colt is the first foal out of the mare Takealilridewithme. The colt was consigned by Spring Haven Farm.

Hip #375 Lindy Express was on of two yearlings to sell for $140,000, and he went to agent Oskar Florhed who signed the ticket for Ake Svanstedt Inc. The son of Trixton-Nashville Lindy was consigned by Preferred Equine Inc. He's the half-brother to multiple stakes winner Shake It Off Lindy (1:55 - $91,185).

Hip #398 One More Rosie also commanded a final bid of $140,000, with Team Allard of Matamoras, PA signing the ticket on the filly. Consigned by Saga Farm, the filly is a daughter of Muscle Mass-Rose De Vie Stena. That makes her the full-sister to the award-winning lass Riveting Rosie (1:52.4 - $903,520).

A total of 160 yearlings went through the sales ring during the third session at the Fasig-Tipton Sales Pavilion in Lexington, Kentucky, with sales totalling $7.6 million for an average of $47,594 per yearling.

More than $30 million in sales have been generated from the 411 horses that have travelled throught the ring. Three days into the auction and the sale has come through with an average sale price of close to $74,000.

The auction will continue through Saturday, Oct. 7. Friday's session starts at 7:00 p.m.
