Abandoning the pocket before the five-eighths, Sir Caviar opened a daylight lead and cruised to victory — his second straight — in Wednesday’s $22,500 Preferred Handicap Trot at The Meadows
.
Brian Zendt guided Sir Caviar, the 4-5 favourite, to the pocket from Post 6. But with a handful of trotter, Zendt made his move early. Sir Caviar responded by opening a 2-1/2-length lead on the sloppy-but-slick surface before scoring his ninth win of the year geared down in 1:55. The first over Salutation Hanover finished second, 1-3/4 lengths back, with Swing And A Hit, an $11,000 claimer just two starts ago, earning show money.
Leslie Zendt trains Sir Caviar, a four-year-old SJs Caviar-Sierra Flower K gelding, and owns with Bill Zendt.
