Reinsman Chris Page had five wins and a pair of runner-up finishes Wednesday afternoon at Colonial Downs as the battle atop the driver’s standings tightened
considerably.
Cory Braden, who did not compete at the New Kent track last fall, reached the winner’s circle five times this past Sunday, and carried a commanding seven win lead over Page, 17 to 10, heading into this week’s action.
Page earned a driving triple on Tuesday while Braden was held to one victory. On Wednesday, Page crept to within two of the top spot by besting Braden, five wins to two.
Page, last year’s fall champ, connected with LC Plum ($6.60), Koala Kat ($8.00), Olivias Filly ($12.60), Rompaway Ulaine ($9.60) and Alex Capital ($6.60). Braden scored with Steadys Bad Boy ($5.40) and Western Albert ($19.80).
Braden‘s win total now stands at 20 while Page has 18.
Action at Colonial Downs continues on Saturday at 5 p.m. Fans, horsemen and employees are encouraged to bring cans or jars of peanut butter and tuna to donate to the Central Virginia Food Bank. Those are the two most requested items from needy families. A post-racing Casino Night fundraiser will also bring in more donation monies to the Food Bank.
