It has been highly anticipated for years now, and today Ontario's environment minister, John Gerretsen, announced that the green light has been given for a rail link between Toronto and Pearson International Airport which may feature a stop very close to Woodbine Racetrack

.

According to an article by The Globe and Mail, Gerretsen has stated that he has addressed the concerns of local residents by having attached 18 strict conditions to the approval.

The article states that Metrolinx, which has indicated it will accept the 18 conditions, has an $875 million plan to ease congestion, boost GO Transit service on the Milton and Barrie lines, and provide an alternative for the five million people who travel annually between Pearson International Airport and downtown Toronto.

The plan includes a possible future stop at Woodbine, which is highlighted on a map which accompanies The Globe and Mail article.
