Robert Allison Jr.'s Perfect Twenty completed a sweep of his $20,000 Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) Two-Year-Old Trot eliminations Wednesday (Oct. 5) at Harrington Raceway as the fastest of four elimination winners in 2:00.1 over a 'good' track.
Perfect Twenty squared off with fellow elimination winner Kodack Black and was a three-length winner through a first-over brush that saw him drawing away at the wire; the same tactic that worked in his round one elimination win. Kodack Black was second with Hespookshescores third. Perfect Twenty is a Yankee Royalty gelding trained by Cliff Green. Victor Kirby drove the $3.60 winner.
The first DSBF filly division went to Dana Weaver's Gold Rate, who sprung a mild upset over Starlight Lounge and Miss Daburg in 2:02. The CR Commando filly was making just her second start of her career. Victor Kirby drove the $14.60 winner for trainer Syl King Jr.
Another son of Yankee Royalty prevailed in the third DSBF division of the night, the second for colts and geldings, as Providence West's Royal Mistake used a late surge after a second-over trip to nail favourite I Got It Made at the wire in 2:03. Reddy Fox was third. Trained by driver Kim Vincent, Royal Mistake earned his first win and paid $49.60.
The final filly division saw Jeff Clark's She Is Strong prevail in dominant wire-to-wire fashion over Lady Brass and Royal Flirt in 2:02.4. The Anders Bluestone filly won both of her elimination events in impressive fashion for trainer/driver Art Stafford Jr. She paid $2.20 to win.
The $100,000 DSBF trotting finals will take place next Wednesday, Oct. 12.
In the $20,000 Open Trot, Andrew Glassmeyer's Embrace The Grind cruised to an open-length win over Swan In Motion and I Da Princess in 1:55.1. Trained by owner Andrew Glassmeyer, the son of Keystone Activator earned his fifth win of the season. Montrell Teague piloted the $6.40 winner.
