Rideau Carleton hosted a pair of Preferred events among their action-packed twelve race card on Sunday evening.
Out Of the Hat was on the top of her game, capturing the first of the two Preferred events. The Kadabra mare did it in gate-to-wire fashion for trainer-driver Stephane Pouliot in 1:57. The favourite paid $3.90 to win, with Decret Justiciale (Denis Filion) following behind and Rocky Boy (Jacques Beaudoin) rounding out the top three. Out Of the Hat is owned by Meadowgem Farm of Osgoode, ON and 9096 9205 Quebec Inc of St Henri De Levis of Quebec.
The tenth race on the card was captured by Poppys Bucky Boy to hit the Preferred training-driving double for Stephane Pouliot. Leaving out from the rail, Pouliot positioned the son of The Panderosa-Whitesand Trick third before moving by the half. Gaining the lead at the three-quarter pole, Pouliot and Poppys Bucky Boy drove on for victory in 1:54.3. Like his stablemate, the five-year-old was the favourite in the field, paying $5.10 to win. Meadowgem Farm of Osgoode, ON and 9096 9205 Quebec Inc of St Henri De Levis of Quebec also own Poppys Bucky Boy.
