When Donnie Rankin purchased Jet Black six weeks ago, little did he realize that he would have him paid for, with a profit, in his first three starts.
Sunday afternoon at Leamington Raceway, Jet Black picked up his fourth win in five starts for Rankin, wiring the field in 2:00.3. The son of Panpacificflight-Jennas Magic was close to going five for five, but found himself in tight quarters last week; the green two year old made a break, causing interference and was placed sixth. Rankin's pacing phenom paid $3.30 for his efforts. Jet Black has now made $8,000 since being purchased for $4,000.
Rankin had three wins on the card, his first coming with Danny William ($4.30) after fashioning out a perfect two hole trip behind Santana Man, who did all the work cutting out the mile, only to lose by a length in 1:59.3. Danny William (Mach Three-Did Dits) is trained by Greg Price for Kevin Gillis of Windsor. Rankin's third score came aboard Mack Baran ($6.10) for Dominic De Santis and Tom Jacobs of Kingsville.
Racing continues next Saturday and Sunday with post time 1:30 p.m.
