Five Straight For Toms OK Lady

Assigned post nine because of her recent dominance, Toms OK Lady overcame a tough first quarter and held on late to capture her fifth consecutive victory in Tuesday’s $22,500 Filly & Mare Preferred Handicap Trot at The Meadows

.

Toms OK Lady had shrugged off post nine once before during her current streak, but it looked as though it would defeat her Tuesday when she was parked out in a :27.1 opening panel over a sloppy surface. Dave Palone gave her a :29.4 second-quarter breather, and the seven-year-old daughter of Inquirer-This Gals OK gamely kept her neck in front of Im Justa Lady charging through the Lightning Lane. Caviar Forthe Lady finished third in the 1:57 mile.

Ron Burke trains Toms OK Lady, who now boasts $651.087 in career earnings for Burke Racing Stable LLC, M1 Stable LLC, Weaver Bruscemi LLC and Bethann Palone.

Palone drove five winners and Mike Wilder four on the 15-race card.
