Sunday, October 4 proved to be the unofficial 'Redmond Doucet Day' at Inverness Raceway, as the reinsman posed for the track photographer's camera after five of the afternoon's seven races.
Doucet got his Sunday winning underway early, as he guided Big Frankie ($2.10) to a monstrous 24-length win in 1:59 during the first race of the program. After having sat out Race 2, Doucet was back in the bike for Race 3, where he promptly converted a pocket trip and stopped the timer in 1:58.4 with Miss Dynamite D ($2.50).
Doucet and his charge Rotten Ronnie ($3.70) were much the best in Race 4, as they led from gate to wire and went on to win by open lengths in 2:01. Doucet was back at it in Race 6, as he came first up with the favoured J J Knights Image ($3.50) and went to win in 1:58.4.
The last contest of the afternoon was Race 7, the $1,250 Winners-Over Pace. Even though Doucet's charge, Intended Royalty ($3.00), was handicapped with the outside Post 5, Doucet was able to click once again. Doucet guided Intended Royalty to a dominant, eight and a half-length win in 1:56.3. Intended Royalty is owned by trainer Randy Copley along with Edward Copley.
