Let go at a juicy 20-1, Jumpinthejailhouse shot through the Lightning Lane to pull off the upset in Wednesday’s (October 4) $15,000 Winners Over $10,000 Life Handicap Trot at The Meadows.
Jumpinthejailhouse was a ground-saving third for most of the mile, but lacked racing room as the field turned for home. When the Lightning Lane opened, however, the five-year-old Jailhouse Jesse-Illiads Lady gelding knifed inside for Bryce Brocklehurst and edged Tricky Nick by a nose in a career-best 1:54.4. Trustworthy Kid, returning from a layoff of nearly seven months, rallied for show.
Harold Brocklehurst owns and trains Jumpinthejailhouse, who now boasts a lifetime bankroll of $135,605.
Live racing at The Meadows resumes Saturday (October 7), when the card features the $193,600 Pennsylvania Fairs Championships and the annual “Pink-Out” to benefit breast cancer research. First post is 1:05 p.m. Eastern.
