A battle for the ages is set for the final card of racing for the 2014 racing season at Red Shores’ Summerside Raceway on Sunday.
Summerside's defending dash-winning driver from last year, Marc Campbell, is set to go head-to-head with the current leader, Jason Hughes. First-race post time is 1 p.m.
Hughes heads into Sunday's card one win up on Campbell. The two will duke it out in seven races on Sunday. Hughes is listed to drive 10 horses and Campbell is set to steer nine.
It will be Campbell's first appearance in Summerside since October 5, after having prior stakes drive commitments in Truro. The 'King' has only 189 starts in Summerside due to a summer full of stakes drives. He has returned 43 of his mounts back to the winner’s enclosure while securing $87,311 in prize money.
Hughes, on the other hand, has made 218 trips behind the starting gate, nabbing himself 44 wins to date and $77,006 in earnings.
It won't be the 'Blue Knight's' only battle of the day, as he is currently the leading trainer as well. He is one up on Thane Mann. Hughes will have the upper hand, as he will send five entries out of his own stable onto the track. Mann will head into battle with three starters.
With Sunday being the final card of the 2014 season in Summerside, Red Shores is proud to announce there will be second chance draws as well as the Wild Horses promotion.

Astor, All Turain Set To Do Battle Saturday
After falling just short to Astor last week, All Turain will look to get back to his winning ways this week as the two are set to do battle in the Saturday afternoon top class at Red Shores’ Charlottetown Driving Park. First-race post time is 1 p.m.
All Turain has drawn the outside Post 6 for owners Lee Hicken and Perry Burke. Mike Stevenson will once again handle the lines for trainer Trevor Hicken as they look to add to a tremendous campaign in which he has nine victories in 15 starts and just under $25,000 in earnings.
He will face off against a pair of Jason Hughes trainees, including last week's Preferred winner, Astor (Post 4). Owned by Foxyhall Racing, Astor has nailed a top-three finish in his last three starts. A regular on the Maritime Free-for-all scene all summer, he has just under $20,000 earned, with three wins, including one in 1:55.4.
The second Hughes entry is also owned by Foxyhall Racing, and will gain the driving services of Mark Bradley. Starting from Post 5, Narragansett will look to benefit from a powerful, but compact field of six. Other entries include Cabo Pan Lucas, Eagle Jolt and Cheyenne Ford.
A great battle is shaping up for the fall meet at Red Shores’ Charlottetown. For the first time in a number of years, Marc Campbell has some company atop the dash wins leader board, so much company that he sits one win behind leader Jason Hughes (101) with 13 cards remaining. The next closest is Walter Cheverie, who has 51.
