.

The Kadabra-Lady Orbitex mare, sent postward as the 3-1 third choice, fired to the front from the outermost six post under the guidance of regular pilot Jonathan Drury. Countess Stormont carved out panels of :28.2, :58.1 and 1:27 while building up a three-length lead on her rivals. A :30.2 closing quarter was all she needed to prevail by two lengths in 1:57.2.

Desperatehousewife (Todd Ratchford) finished second and Flora Dream (Scott Coulter) closed well for third.

Countess Stormont has won seven of her last 11 starts at the Preferred level. The four-year-old mare has recorded 10 victories in 31 outings this year earning $134,169 for owner/breeder Stormont Meadows of Long Sault, Ont.
