A pair of $9,500 co-features headlined the Wednesday, Oct. 30 evening card at Flamboro Downs with P L Oliver and Palladium Hanover winning their respective classes.
In the conditioned pace in race six, P L Oliver heavily upset as the swifter finisher of the co-features with a 1:54 win at odds of 33-1.
P L Oliver, with driver Travis Henry, paced from seventh through panels in :27 and :56.1 before moving three-wide at the three-quarters in 1:24.1. The Matthew Dupuis student threw his hat in the ring in the stretch as the field fanned out. In a blanket finish, P L Oliver prevailed by a nose in 1:54 over Crazy World (Austin Sorrie) in second and Smooth Lou (Samuel Fillion) in third.
P L Oliver (Sportswriter-P L Gotcha) is a six-year-old gelding owned by Dupuis. He recorded his seventh win of the season in 30 starts to go along with $55,202 earned. In his 133 starts lifetime, he has won 24 races and $248,908. He paid $67.60 to win.
Favourite Palladium Hanover took the second $9,500 conditioned pace with a gate-to-wire triumph in 1:54.4.
Travis Cullen piloted the popular Jodie Cullen student through splits in :27, :57.1 and 1:25.2 before going on to win by a length over JJ Xavier (Samuel Fillion) and Drinkin Buddy (Daryl Thiessen).
The four-year-old gelded son of Artspeak-Pilgrims Witchie is owned by Paul Sanders and A1stable. He recorded his fourth win of the season in 35 starts, moving his 2024 sum to $48,889. In his career of 68 starts, Palladium Hanoverhas won 14 times and banked $161,623. He paid $2.90 to win.
