Defying a triple class jump and corresponding 10-1 odds, Macadoodledoo followed live cover and kicked home strongly to pull off the upset — his third straight victory — in Friday’s $17,900 Open Handicap Pace at The Meadows.
Macadoodledoo was fifth down the backside when Aaron Merriman sent him after the first-over Wild Wild Western who made the front. But the five-year-old Somebeachsomewhere-Pirouette Hanover gelding overtook that rival through the final turn and scored in 1:51.3 in the slop. Father Ted GB shot the Lightning Lane for second, beaten a length, while Real Peace rallied for show.
Paul Corey trains Macadoodledoo, who lifted his lifetime bankroll to $187,976, for Kenneth Ashba.
Dave Palone and Merriman each collected three wins on the 13-race card.
Live harness racing at The Meadows resumes Monday when the 13-race program features a $97,701.97 carryover in the final-race Super Hi-5. First post is 12:45 PM.
