Buttermilk Hanover ($14.00) sustained a long, uncovered grind to secure a 1:56 victory — her second straight — in Wednesday night's (Oct. 30) featured $10,500 Preferred 2 Pace for fillies at mares at Flamboro Downs.

The six-year-old daughter of Badlands Hanover and driver Robert Shepherd got away toward the back of the pack after being saddled with post eight, and they worked steadily closer into mid-division while Thats Incredible (Alfie Carroll) controlled a :56.1 half over good going. In the second circuit, Buttermilk Hanover advanced to press the pace past three-quarters in 1:25.3 and claimed the lead from Thats Incredible on the final turn.

While Buttermilk Hanover succeeded in putting away Thats Incredible, she wasn't home free in the final furlong — Filly Forty Seven (Travis Cullen) posed a significant threat after stalking live cover through the middle half. Buttermilk Hanover remained undeterred and prevailed by a half length over Filly Forty Seven, while Thats Incredible held third.

The sub-featured $8,500 Preferred 3 saw R A W Equine Inc. and Mark Horner's The Joy Luck Club ($3.80) record a pillar-to-post victory in 1:55.3 in line to Mike Horner. The five-year-old Camluck mare cleared Southwind Ion (Travis Henry) early, and the pair continued one-two for virtually the entire mile, separated by just 1-1/4 lengths at the line. Casino Classic (Scott Young) narrowly finished third.
