Papas Son ($4.20) and Art Stafford Jr. were the fastest of three divisional winners in the second leg of the Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) series, worth $20,000 apiece, for two-year-old male pacers on Monday (Oct. 2) at Harrington Raceway.
Owned by Stephen Messick, Papas Son (sired by Papa Ray) notched his second career win for trainer Les Givens in 1:56.3 over Cavalli Island and Better Dig Two.
Tina Clark and Gary Evans' Come On Eddie ($4.20) and Montrell Teague won the second split in 1:57 over Shocking Truth and Rowdy Dragon. The Classic Card Shark gelding fought gamely to the wire to outkick pacesetter Shocking Truth late for his second straight win.
PT Stable's Beat Cop ($2.40) and Corey Callahan completed a sweep of his elimination legs with a 1:57.2 triumph for trainer Crissy Crissman-Bier, who had three wins on the card. The Dragon King gelding was a 10-length winner over There Goes Bubba and Chellas Lil Devil for his fifth career win.
Teague notched five wins on the Monday card.
The top eight point earners will return Oct. 9 to compete in the $110,000 final.
