Johnny Freight, the three-year-old full brother to O'Brien Award winner Jimmy Freight, headlined Tuesday's harness racing action at Dayton Raceway.

Johnny Freight posted the fastest mile of the night in the opener, lowering his lifetime mark to 1:51.2 in an $11,000 conditioned pace for trainer Mike Arnold and owners Caroll and Rick Huffman of Sigourney, Iowa.

Johnny Freight made a first over bid at the three-quarter-mile marker and kicked home in :28.3 to win 3-1/4 lengths over favourite Fear The Image and Honest Nation. Josh Sutton drove the Sportswriter-Allamerican Summer colt, now a three-time winner from 16 starts.

Dayton Raceway’s leading driver Chris Page had a successful night at the office posting a driving hat trick, with two of his winning mounts taking new lifetime marks. Page secured his first two wins of the night in races two and four with A Long Dream (1:55.2) and Jumping The Line (1:57.2), both for trainer Sherif Cunmulaj and both taking new lifetime marks. His third of the evening came in race five where Beaus Best equalled his lifetime mark of 1:54.4 for trainer Ron Burke.

Dayton Raceway will offer a $10,000 guaranteed pool on the Pick 5 wager for Wednesday, Oct. 4  as a result of a $4,386.28 carryover. The Pick 5 is offered through races two through six. The Dayton, Ohio oval would also like to remind its patrons of the $957.77 High-5 carryover available in race five.
