As expected, millionaire free-for-allers Warrawee Needy and Razzle Dazzle put on a show in qualifying action at Pocono Downs Thursday morning.
Warrawee Needy, a son of E Dees Cam, turned back ‘Razzle’ in 1:50 flat.
Driver Mark MacDonald hustled Warrawee Needy away from Post 3 to set the pace. After having started from Post 6, Razzle Dazzle took a three-hole tuck for driver Joe Pavia Jr. Warrawee Needy cut the fractions in :28, :56.2 and 1:23.1.
‘Needy,’ now trained by Mark Ford, closed with a :26.4 final quarter mile to seal the deal. Razzle Dazzle, trained by Richard ‘Nifty’ Norman finished second, beaten one and a half lengths.
Earlier on the qualifying docket, I Luv The Nitelife (driven by Andrew McCarthy) won her qualifying tilt in 1:52.2. The win came in wire-to-wire fashion and the margin of victory was four lengths.
Sophomore trotting colt Smilin Eli won his qualifying dash in 1:53.3. He posted a one and three-quarter-length victory in the gate-to-wire performance.
