Hanover Awards Close Out Meet

Mother Nature tried her best to cancel, but Hanover Raceway managed to get its final card of racing in on a miserable Saturday afternoon

.

The final day included the draw for the Diamond Rush 2009 promotion, which featured a $3,300 dollar half carat diamond courtesy of Wendt’s Jewellery in Mildmay.

A winner was drawn on each of the first 30 race days, and all 30 winners returned for lunch. After Race 9 it was announced that the lucky jewellery box was box number 10, which was picked by Linda Metcalf of Hanover.

Hanover Raceway also announced the winners of its driver, trainer and horse awards.

The winners are:

Ab Fleishauer Horse of the Year - Chasin Jiffy (6-3-3 in 15 starts)

Trotter of the Year - Nole (3 wins in 9 starts)

Filly Claimer of the Year - Miss Mcintosh (4-3-0 on 8 starts)

Claimer of the Year - Time Travelin Man (3-2-2 in 7 starts)

Ray and Leu Leifso Non-Driving Trainer - Gary Mahon

Dash Trainer of the Year - Paul Taylor (19 wins in 79 starts)

Dash Driver of the Year - Bruce Richardson (46-35-23 in 225 starts)

Percentage Driver of the Year - Scott Zeron (.376)

The 2009 season included many rainy cold Saturdays but it also included a strong supporting cast of horses, horsemen and fans. Hanover Raceway would like to thank their horsemen, fans and sponsors for their support in 2009 and look forward to bigger and better things in 2010.
