In a harness racing rarity, the field of eight trotters in the fifth race at The Raceway at Western Fair District on Friday night (October 28) finished in exact order of their post positions.
The race was won by 3-2 second choice Mikey Rocks in 2:03.2 for trainer/driver Peter Otten. The four-year-old Hard Rock N Roll gelding set out for the front from post one and regained the lead in the final turn after being challenged down the backstretch by 7-5 favourite Cruzn Johnny (#3), who finished third as Someday Lu (#2) came through between those two off a pocket trip. Eikos Fifi (#4) finished fourth after tracking second-over while Abazaba Hanover (#5) was fifth inside followed by Uncle Diggs (#6), who recovered after an early miscue behind the gate. Breakers Zorgwijk Omega (#7) and Leroys Dream (#8) completed the field. The order of finish matched the program order.
In one instance that occurred on September 29, 2010 at Monticello Raceway, the track reported that the odds of horses finishing in the exact order in which they started are 40,320-1.
