Fancy Hill and driver Drew Neill captured the $9,500 Open Pace for mares in 1:56 on Friday night (Oct. 27) at Northville Downs.
The Mares Open Pace was featured on the Friday night program and it ended with Northville newcomer Fancy Hill invading from Ohio for the victory. The four-year-old daughter of Racing Hill closed well from the back, after getting away sixth at the start, as early pacesetters Cruisin Thru Time and Cousin Margie battled the first three-quarters for the lead, tripping the beam in 1:26.3. Fancy Hill rolled three-wide past three-quarters and swept by them all to grab command in the stretch. At the finish, Cousin Margie was resurgent to close back for second, only getting beat by a quarter-length. She The North closed well for third.
Owned and trained by Jayne Weller, Fancy Hill earned her third win in a dozen starts this year and eighth lifetime victory.
Nine races on the program yielded nine different winning drivers and trainers.
Racing at The Ville resumes on Saturday, Oct 28 at 7 p.m. with an eight-race program.
