Kindergarten Returns To Vernon

Vernon Downs hosted leg number five of the Kindergarten Classic featuring all two-year-old classes Thursday evening at Vernon Downs.

Tito (Andrew McCarthy) took over just before the half and cruised to an easy victory in 1:55.2 in the division for two-year-old trotting colts and geldings. Seven Iron (Tim Tetrick) finished second and Glider Man (Corey Callahan) settled for third.

Tito, a son of Muscle Mass-Stonebridge Encore, is owned by Anthony Lombardi, George Golemes and Louis Willinger. Erv Miller trains the two-year-old colt who won for the third time in his career. He paid $3.60 to win.

Sevenbuyeleven (Tim Tetrick) captured the Kindergarten Classic for freshman trotting fillies.

Sevenbuyeleven, a daughter of Chapter Seven-Musclelini, laid down fractions of :28.2, :59 and 1:28.3 before sprinting home in :28 to win in 1:56.3. Owned by Kenneth Jacobs and trained by Linda Toscano, the two-year-old bested runner-up Megadolce (McCarthy) and third place finisher Maria Deo (Larry Stalbaum).

Sevenbuyeleven ($3.60) won for the fourth time in 10 starts.

Points North (McCarthy) won the Kindergarten Classic for freshman pacing colts and geldings.

Points North, a son of Somebeachsomewhere-Northwest Hanover, who is owned by the Pinske Stables and trained by ‘Nifty’ Norman, went first-over just before three-quarters and took over at the top of the stretch. The two-year-old colt held off a late charge by Rockapelo (Tetrick) to capture the win in 1:52.4. Rockapelo claimed the second spot while Casual Cool (Marcus Miller) and California Cruisin (Mike Simons) would end up in a dead heat for third.

Points North ($14.80) notched his six on the season.

Im Trigger Happy (Corey Callahan) won the Kindergarten Classic for two-year-old pacing fillies.

Im Trigger Happy, a daughter of Art Major-Shot Togo Bluechip, went gate-to-wire through fractions of :27.4, :57.3 and 1:26.3. She powered home on :27.1 to win in 1:53.4. Owned by Let It Ride Stables Inc and trained by Ross Croghan, she would put them away in the stretch winning by five lengths. Alexas Power (David Miller) would finish second with Aldine Hanover (Atlee Bender) finishing second.

Im Trigger Happy ($5.00) won for the fourth time in five lifetime starts.

The Kindergarten Finals will be held at the Meadowlands on Saturday, November 4.

Vernon Downs returns to live action on Friday with a nine-race card starting at 6:45 p.m.
