Three starts and three wins. That’s how Cool Muscle rolls.
The undefeated youngster, who didn’t race as a rookie, has had some gaps in his schedule but it hasn’t stopped him from winning races for trainer Ed Hayter.
In rein to Scott Young, Cool Muscle got away sixth before advancing to fifth as the field went through first half fractions of :29 and :59.3. Young caught cover with his charge around the final turn, and they were three-wide and firing off that cover at the three-quarter pole in 1:30.2. Cool Muscle kicked home in :28 and won by 1-3/4 lengths over Kuil Deva in 1:59.1. Brenda And Eddie was third.
Joann Hayter of Stratford, Ont. owns the three-year-old son of Muscle Mass-Canada Cool, who kicked off his career with wins at Grand River Raceway (August 18) and Flamboro Downs (October 18). The lightly raced colt, who was a $40,000 purchase from 2015 Canadian Yearling Sale, has banked over $13,000 to date.
Trainer Mark Steacy also enjoyed a productive Thursday evening at Woodbine Racetrack thanks to a three-win performance that started in Race 2 with the Somebeachsomewhere filly Pearl Blue Chip. The rookie drew clear to win by nine lengths in 1:54.1.
More Than Majestic gave Steacy his second winner on the card thanks to his 1:57.4 tally in Race 5, and he capped off the 10-race card with a win in the finale. Tuxedo Bay rallied for the head decision in 1:53.1. James MacDonald was the pilot with all three of Steacy’s winners.
