The skies may have been clear above Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway on Tuesday (Oct. 25), but Thunder rolled on the track, taking the $24,000 Open Handicap Trot.
With driver Brett Miller at the lines, Thunder’s Open score came in gate to wire fashion. Once the dust settled, the six-year-old gelded son of Conway Hall found himself in total control of the field. The gelding held off his competitors to post fractions in :27.2, :56.1, and 1:24.3 before cruising across the finish in 1:54.
Thunder bested co-favorite Wildfire Seelster (Tyler Smith) in second with Talk About Valor (Travis Seekman) finishing third.
The victory marked the seventh win of the season for Thunder. Trained by Stacey Van Huizen, the gelding a has bankrolled $431,911 in lifetime earnings for co-owners Crawford Farms Racing and Vip Internet Stable.
Live racing will resume Wednesday (Oct. 26) at Dayton Raceway with first post at 4:00 p.m. Free programs are always available online.
