Surrealist kept his outside pacing rivals at bay as he raced to victory in the top class over a sloppy surface at Northside Downs on Saturday afternoon.
With the inside post advantage, Surrealist ($4.30) turned back early challenger Boknows Momngranny and held off the pocket-pulling Great Luck for the one-length victory in 2:02.1 for trainer/owner Dana Getto of New Waterford, N.S. Randy Getto was in the driver's seat for the eight-year-old Modern Art gelding's seventh win of the season from 27 starts.
The Gettos teamed up for a perfect afternoon with their other Saturday starter, Hoosier King, also winning during the 11-race card. Trainers Peter MacKinnon and Lorne Grant each sent out a perfect pair from their own stables. Among MacKinnon's winning trainees was St Paddys Luck, who scored a 2:05.2 triumph in the second leg of the Governor's Pub And Eatery Series for $1,500 claimers while Waterside Lucky was a repeat winner in the series, taking the other division in 2:04.1 for owner/trainer Walter Walker before being claimed away.
