Myretirementdream laid down an authoritative open-length victory in the $10,000 Preferred Trot at Flamboro Downs on Thursday, Oct. 23 to go back-to-back in the track’s top class.
Johnny Buckshot (Garrett Rooney) hustled past him to lead coming off the first turn, but Jay Harris brought Myretirementdream out immediately to take over before the quarter in :28.3. He cruised to the half in :58.4 before Hey Ralphie (Austin Sorrie) shifted out of fourth and trekked first-over to pressure the leader through three-quarters in 1:27.1, beginning a battle that carried the combatants away from the field entering the last turn. Hey Ralphie waved the white flag coming into the stretch, and Myretirementdream rolled clear by 2-1/2 lengths to complete the 1:56.2 victory. Goodashim (Scott Coulter) closed for second over Hey Ralphie.
Myretirementdream is undefeated in three starts since moving to Flamboro, improving his yearly record to four-for-28. Eli Wagler of Ingersoll, Ont. trains and owns the homebred son of Il Sogno Dream-Myretirementticket. The four-year-old stallion is an eight-time winner with $399,672 in earnings from 48 career starts. He paid $6 to win.
