The PEI Harness Racing Industry Association (PEIHRIA) has announced two new Fall Series events, which will be held at Red Shores at Charlottetown Driving Park. Sponsored by the MacRae family, the events will be named in honour of the late Joe and Steven MacRae.
The 2023 Joe MacRae Memorial Fall Series is for horses and mares aged five and over who, as of Oct. 31, 2023, are non-winners of $4,500 in 2023 and who have raced a minimum of 12 starts in P.E.I. in 2023. Eliminations will be held on Sunday, Nov. 5, 2023 for $3,000, with the consolation for $3,200 and the final for $4,500 being held on Sunday, Nov. 12, 2023.
The 2023 Steven MacRae Memorial Fall Series is for horses and mares aged five and younger who, as of date of declaration, are non-winners of $6,000 in 2023 and who have raced a minimum of 10 starts in P.E.I. in 2023. Eliminations will be held on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2023 for a purse of $3,000, with the consolation for $3,200 and the final for $4,500, both held on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2023.
All events will be raced at Red Shores at the Charlottetown Driving Park, with no nomination or starting fee. In the event there is enough entries to fill both a horse/gelding and mares event, entries will be separated by sex.
