Uncorked off a third-over trip, So Much More swung to the lead nearing the finish of a 1:50.1 mile to claim victory against open competition in the $36,000 Preferred Pace at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Saturday (Oct. 24).
Wheels On Fire took the lead from post 8 but yielded command to Rockme Rollme by a :26.2 opening quarter. Matticulous GB, the 3-1 favourite, soon pulled off the pegs from fourth and brushed to the lead before a :53.4 half.
Meanwhile Points North edged first over from fifth to lead the two-wide flow towards the tiring leaders approaching three-quarters in 1:22.1. Points North forged to the lead into the stretch and held firm towards the front, but So Much More gathered momentum off cover and stormed to the lead late chased by Real Willey to post a three-quarter length score. Points North held third while Foot Soldier rallied for fourth.
A four-year-old mare by Big Jim, So Much More won her 10th race from 25 starts this season and her 29th from 59 overall, earning $502,547. Trainer Don Beatson co-owns the $9.10 winner with Kenneth Beatson and Cole England.
