Trainer-driver Wayne Mac Lean raced on a lonesome lead with his two-year-old Archangel colt Buckys Angel, strolling to another dominant victory to win the $23,800 Autumn Series Final on Saturday (Oct. 24) at Flamboro Downs.
Starting from post 2, Buckys Angel slid to the lead as pylon-starter Halliday Dream lost stride before the start. Kiss My Mass secured the pocket from post 8 to a :29 first quarter and gave chase to the leader by a :58.2 half. From there Buckys Angel separated from the field, opening five lengths to three-quarters in 1:27.2 and growing that margin into the stretch. Buckys Angel hit the finish of a 1:58.1 mile nine-and-a-half lengths better than Willywin taking second. GQ Magic finished another three lengths behind in third with All The Trimmins another seven lengths behind in fourth.
A homebred for Jocelyne Menard, Buckys Angel won his fifth race from nine starts, earning $28,080. He paid $3.50 to win.
