Hes Got Swagger ($3.70) swept to the front and never looked back en route to his fifth victory in as many starts for owner-driver Travis Cullen and trainer Jodie Cullen in Wednesday's (Oct. 24) featured $8,800 top-level conditioned pace at Flamboro Downs.
The three-year-old Vintage Master gelding wasted absolutely no time seizing control, vaulting from the outside post 6 and clearing down to the pegs just a couple strides into the first turn. After outpacing his five rivals and maintaining a clear lead through splits of :27.1, :55 and 1:23.3, Hes Got Swagger began to slacken on the final turn, while the tandem of Machlicious (Scott Young) and Majo Lou Beka (Robert Shepherd) began to encroach.
Fully extended off the final turn, Hes Got Swagger was urged vigorously by owner-driver Travis Cullen to prevail by a scant neck in 1:53.1 over the steadily-closing Majo Lou Beka. Machlicious finished third, another 1-1/2 lengths back.
Hes Got Swagger, now a 12-time winner, shaved a fifth of a second off his previous lifetime mark, also taken at Flamboro in his Sept. 18 debut for the Cullens.
