Nobestbfor, with owner-driver Walter Cheverie in the bike, won the feature event Thursday at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park. The time of the mile was 1:56.3.
Cheverie sent Nobestbfor to the front through rated fractions of :28.1, :56.4 and 1:26.1 before putting away Machinthesand in deep stretch. Sterling Seelster was third. Nobestbfor paid $20.30 to win. It was Cheverie’s second winner on the card.
Pinner won the back-up class in 1:58.1 holding off a late charging Roscoes Child for the victory. Marc Campbell did the driving for trainer Brian Ladner and his co-owners Kevin and Lillian Ladner of Charlottetown, PEI. Doll R General was also part of the winning triactor. It was Campbell’s second winner. The Island’s top driver ended the night with a driving triple.
Majian Chester and driver James Ripley claimed the trot class in 2:03.3. The gelding notched his fourth win of the season for owner Marylea Ripley of Amherst, NS. Tymal Tyme finished second with JK Queen third.
Ron and Jackie Matheson recorded a driving and training double on the program. Kenny Arsenault also paraded two winners in the 12-dash card.
Racing returns Saturday at 6 p.m. with the Maritime Breeders Final for two-year-old colts and fillies. Red Shores Summerside will feature the David Rose Memorial for the Fans leg 2 on Sunday. Post time is 1 p.m.
