Rushing off cover on a track rated 'good,' Phoos Girl got a neck up on pacesetter Sodwana Bay and won going an added distance in the $9,000 Fillies and Mares Preferred 3 Pace at The Raceway at Western Fair District on Tuesday, Oct. 23 with a 2:05.4 time for a mile and a sixteenth.

Driver Marc St. Louis positioned the five-year-old fifth to the :28.3 opening quarter as Sodwana Bay secured control from pocket-sitter and rail-starter Bettys Bay. On The Minute Mark, racing third, edged first over heading to a :59.4 half and carried Rubis Prescott second over around the clubhouse turn.

Phoos Girl shot to the center of the course moving to a 1:29.3 third quarter and narrowed on Sodwana Bay rounding the final turn. The Danielle Neil owned-and-trained Badlands Hanover mare lunged to the front late in the lane to best the even-money favourite while Rubis Prescott, kicking off cover, snagged third.

Winning her ninth race in 28 starts this season and her 18th in 85 overall, Phoos Girl passed the $100,000 earnings plateau and paid $10.70 to win.
