After making breaks in his previous starts at Grand River Raceway, Tornado Tim was on his best behaviour in Wednesday evening's $7,000 Preferred 3 Trot and made it to the Elora, Ont. winner's circle.
Tornado Tim rallied home from the backfield to win the Wednesday feature race in 1:58.4 by half a length for trainer/driver Daniel O'Brian. He paid $16.40 for the mild 7-1 upset.
Favourite Kashs Caviar (Trevor Henry) worked his way to the lead over Long Ago (Bruce Richardson) off the gate and carved out fractions of :28.3, :58 and 1:28. Meanwhile, Heres The Magic (Anthony MacDonald) moved underway from third as they approached the third quarter mark and applied pressure to the front-stepper into the stretch. But Tornado Tim went wide and edged by the top two at the wire for the victory. Heres The Magic finished second over Long Ago and Kashs Caviar.
Tornado Tim, who broke stride in his previous June 10 and October 16 appearances at Grand River, earned his fourth win of the year and 16th lifetime. The son of Revenue S is owned by Everette Hanson of Maugerville, N.B.
