The East Coast’s brightest young trotters will take centre stage on Thursday, Oct. 23 at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park as the Home Hardware Maritime Breeders for trotters highlight a stakes-filled card.

The capital oval presents a 14-dash program with first race post time at 6 p.m. (ADT)

The $18,000 Home Hardware Maritime Breeders three-year-old trot filly division in the second race will see Supreme Rockette and trainer-driver Mike McGuigan looking to regain winning form from the rail. The E L Rocket filly is owned by Jamie Whalen and has been ultra-consistent in the top stakes all season. Majian Mystery will have Jim Ripley in the bike while Dusty Lane Kahlua will look to continue her strong sophomore campaign for trainer Lenny Myers with Adam Merner handling the driving duties.

The two-year-old fillies line up in the fourth for a $19,500 purse with Bonmati looking to cap off a sharp rookie campaign for trainer Kuri White and driver Corey MacPherson from post one. The daughter of E L Rocket has been solid in every start with eight top-three finishes from nine starts for owner Blayne White of Pinette. Roseys El Girl has post two for trainer William Lanigan and driver Ken Murphy, while Dusty Lane Margo comes in sharp for trainer Ashley Gamester with Jason Hughes in the bike. Despite still being a maiden, Emberlees Rocket is the morning line favourite for trainer John Clarey and driver Marc Campbell.

Race 7 features the $19,500 Home Hardware Maritime Breeders two-year-old trot colt division and showcases Little Louis as the one to beat for trainer Kuri White and driver Corey MacPherson. The E L Rocket colt has been a standout in his division all season and looks to add another trophy to his growing list as he seeks his 10th straight win for owner East Coast Captains. Hoponarocket brings early speed and consistency for trainer-driver Mike McGuigan from post one, while West River Karuna leaves from post six for trainer-driver Clare MacDonald as the only horse to every defeat Little Louis.

The three-year-old trot colts will wrap up the stakes action in Race 10 with another $18,000 purse on the line. Post two starter Dusty Lane Gus has been a model of consistency this season for trainer Leonard Myers and will again have Adam Merner in the driver’s seat. West River Jet is the morning line favourite and brings a big late kick that could carry him to the winner’s circle for driver Ken MacDonald and trainer Clare MacDonald. Fire The Rocket has been competitive in all recent starts and will have Jason Hughes back in the bike for trainer Ashley Gamester.
