Ford Summit Series Begins

The first leg of the Ford Summit Series for $6,000 claiming trotters kicked off on Saturday night at Georgian Downs with seven divisions worth $4,800 each.

Dabrina was the fastest winner of the night as she romped to an 11-1/2 length victory in 1:57.4 with Carmen Auciello making a rare driving appearance for trainer Wai Man Yeung, who also co-owns with Rocco Auciello.

Driver Scott Coulter doubled up in the series with Steve Labonte trainee Orasi L B ($5.60) winning in 2:01 and Rob Fellow trainee Royal King ($5.90) scoring in 1:59.4.

Moblessinsdinblues ($25.40) pulled off the biggest upset from the seven divisions with Anthony MacDonald in the bike. The Keith Jones pupil prevailed in 2:01.3 by a nose while the favourites broke stride at the start of the race.

The other winners were: Belvidere Hanover ($6.50) and driver J.R. Plante in 1:59.2 for trainer Kevin Tremblay; Barbies Korvett and James McClure in 2:00.3 for conditioner James MacLeod; and Special Bay ($4.60) and Dan Clements in 1:59 for trainer Mike Sinclair.

The trotting series continues next Saturday, Oct. 27 while the pacing series gets underway on Sunday, Oct. 21.
