Wednesday's (Oct. 20) session of the London Virtual Yearling Sale brought with it a new high bid for the week, as Mickey Muscles attracted a $125,000 purchase price.

Mickey Muscles was consigned by Dean and Ashley Wilson on behalf of owners and breeders Blair and Erna Corbeil, and sold for a week-high $125,000 to George Millar. The fifth foal out of Lady Bling, Mickey Muscles — by Muscle Mass — is a full brother to 30-time winner and multiple New York-restricted stakes winner Im The Muscle, who beat Preferred company at Freehold just last Friday (Oct. 15) and registered three wins over the five-furlong distance at Pompano Park in the fall of his three-year-old season.

Four other yearlings attracted winning bids of at least $50,000, including the Bettors Delight-Lady Jake filly Century Jessica, who, at $52,000, was the highest-grossing pacer of the session. Douglas Paul purchased the full sister to two-time Ontario Sires Stakes winner Betalady from the Century Springs Farm consignment.

Eugenio Chiaravalle paid $51,000 for the Big Jim-Matilda colt Cleveland Big J, a full brother to six-figure earners Bernadette, Cabowabocuttie and Bernie consigned by Erinwood Equine, and Patrick Therrien paid an identical amount for the Muscle Mass-Windsong Nolwenn filly Shesfullofmuscles, a full sister to Full Of Muscles, who, last year, finished third in the OSS Super Final and second in the Champlain Stakes.

The Seelster Farms consignment's Avenue Seelster rounded out the session's top five sellers, attracting a $50,000 bid from Millar. The Sunshine Beach filly is the first foal out of Absolute Heaven, whose damsire is the venerable Beach Towel.

Thus far, a total of $3,447,000 has changed hands with the sale of 112 yearlings, resulting in an average sale price of $30,776.

Bidding is underway on the remaining horses, with the schedule of auctions closing as follows:

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 21, 2021
• Auctions for HIP NUMBERS 120 – 155 start closing at 12:00 p.m.
