TCNHC Player Profile: Roy Sproxton

Reigning champion Roy Sproxton is hoping for a repeat of his 2009 Trot Canada National Handicapping Championship (TCNHC) performance

. Sproxton was able to bring home the $25,000 with his great wagering skills and was crowned ‘Champion’ at Rideau Carleton last fall.

2010 brings a new set of challenges for Sproxton. He will be playing at a new venue and facing a new set of foes, including the 2007 Champion, Rocky DiBello, who will be looking to score the big payout a second time as well. With players like this on the roster we’re sure to have quite a show down.

Let’s take a look at Sproxton and see what makes this player tick:

Favourite Racetrack – Western Fair
Favourite Driver – Robert Shepherd
Favourite Food – Pizza
Favourite Stakes Race – Damsel
Favourite Celebrity – Piers Morgan
Lucky Number – 10
Favourite Horse of All Time – Power In Rein

Sproxton, who has been a racing fan for over 25 years, would love the chance to bring home the $25,000 once again. He’ll be bringing his good luck charm, his father Don, to the Championship in hopes that stars align once again.

His plans for the $25,000 should he get the job done two years in a row? Unlike in 2009 where a new dishwasher was first on his list, Sproxton plans to throw a big party to celebrate.
