Windemere Skye Targets 24 In Atlantic Breeders Crown

Windemere Skye will put her perfect career record on the line again as the Atlantic Breeders Crown Weekend of Champions will notch all the champions in the history books on Sunday, Oct. 4 at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

The capital oval has a 12:30 p.m. first-race post time with the Atlantic Breeders Crown championship finals highlighting the program during the 60th Anniversary of the Atlantic Sires Stakes. The Atlantic Breeders Crown Weekend of Champions is presented by the P.E.I. Standardbred Horse Owners Association.

Windemere Skye headlines the $50,000 Atlantic Breeders Crown three-year-old pacing filly final, carded as Race 12, with Marc Campbell in the bike for trainer Earl Watts. The daughter of Somewhere Fancy is undefeated in 11 starts this season after going 12-for-12 as a rookie and has banked $219,393 lifetime. She leaves from post seven after 23 straight victories.

Alwaysinfullforce is the 3-1 morning line second choice from the rail for trainer Mike McGuigan with Ken Murphy driving while Mysterious Ways (To be driven by Jason Hughes) is the 7-2 third choice from post six. Isle Mach Da Money (Gilles Barrieau) is 4-1 from post four.

The $50,000 Atlantic Breeders Crown final for three-year-old pacing colts lines up in Race 14 with Zero Two Sixty the 5-2 morning line favourite from post seven for trainer Sifroi Melanson and driver Murphy. Oceanview Lou is the 3-1 second choice from post eight with Brodie MacPhee driving for trainer Tom Weatherbie. Darbies Fancy (Gilles Barrieau) gets third billing for trainer Bernard McCallum with post five.

Two-year-old pacing fillies clash for $50,000 in Race 8 with Sheeowtime Speed the 5-2 morning line favourite from the rail. Campbell drives the Earl Watts trainee, who has five wins from eight starts this season and a 1:56.2 lifetime best. Starship Daisy (Ken Murphy) is the 3-1 second choice from post three while Redland Equinox (Hughes) is selected for third.

Race 10 carries the $50,000 Atlantic Breeders Crown final for two-year-old pacing colts with Woodmere Rock It favoured at 5-2 from post three. Gilles Barrieau drives the Jamie Smith trainee, who has been perfect through nine career starts and owns a 1:52.4 lifetime mark. Woodmere Fergus is the 3-1 second choice from the rail for driver Hughes and trainer Smith while Southdale Jeff (Adam Merner) is 7-2 from post two.

The trotters will also crown their champions with $25,000 on the line in each final.

Rockin Through It is the 5-2 morning line favourite from the rail in the Atlantic Breeders Crown two-year-old trotting filly final, Sunday's second race. Mike McGuigan trains and drives the daughter of Muscle Through It, who has three wins from nine seasonal starts. Saulsbrook Disco (Campbell) is the 3-1 second choice from post two with Howmac Limerick (Jason Hughes) the 7-2 third choice from post three.

Little Louis will look to continue a dominant sophomore campaign in the $25,000 three-year-old trotting colt final in Race 4. Corey MacPherson drives the 5-2 morning line favourite from post one for trainer Kuri White. Little Louis has nine wins from 10 starts this season and $146,054 in career earnings. Hoponarocket is the 3-1 second choice from post three for trainer-driver Mike McGuigan.

Hopthroughit gets rail control in the $25,000 two-year-old trotting colt final in Race 5. The Clare MacDonald-trained and driven rookie is the 3-1 morning line second choice after winning three of his nine starts this season. Stunning Speed is the 5-2 morning line favourite from post five for trainer-driver Mike McGuigan after suffering the first loss of his career last Sunday in Summerside while Shoe Dog Speed (Paul Langille) is the 7-2 third choice from post three.

The three-year-old trotting fillies meet for the $25,000 Atlantic Breeders Crown Final in Race 7 with Bonmati (MacPherson) the 5-2 favourite from post five for trainer Blayne White. The E L Rocket filly has been a five-time winner from eight seasonal starts and takes on four foes in her championship bout.

Shanghai Whiskey will put his three-race winning streak to the test Saturday afternoon as Atlantic Breeders Crown consolation action takes centre stage at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

The capital oval has a 12-dash presentation featuring four $15,000 Atlantic Breeders Crown consolation events starting at 12:30 p.m. 

The $15,000 Atlantic Breeders Crown consolation for three-year-old pacing colts closes out the program in Race 12 with Shanghai Whiskey leaving from post six for driver Marc Campbell and trainer Wade Myers.

The son of Shanghai Phil has won three straight, including a 1:56 score in his Joe O’Brien Grassroots division Sunday at Red Shores Summerside. He was also a 1:55.4 winner in Atlantic Sires Stakes action Sept. 12 and stopped the clock in 1:53.4 in a Joe O’Brien Gold division Aug. 22.

Shanghai Whiskey is the 5-2 morning-line favourite while Blazing Cays is the 3-1 second choice from the rail for trainer-driver Darren Crowe. Woodmere Mahomes is the 7-2 third choice for trainer-driver Gilles Barrieau.

Gilles Barrieau trains and drives the Malicious filly, who owns a 1:57.4 record and has two victories from six seasonal starts. Howmac Derry is the 3-1 second choice from post seven for trainer-driver Adam Merner while Redland Abby is the 7-2 third choice from post three with Jason Hughes driving for trainer Stephen Quinn.

The two-year-old pacing colts contest their $15,000 Atlantic Breeders Crown consolation in Race 6 with Wilson Cassidy the 5-2 morning-line favourite from post two. Marc Campbell drives the Kevin Bailey trainee, who has four wins from eight starts this season and a 1:57.2 record. Cusisaidsothatswy is the 3-1 second choice from post five for driver Ken Murphy and trainer Bernard McCallum while Phildangerous is the 7-2 third choice from the rail for driver Brodie MacPhee and trainer Tom Weatherbie.
