'Sixty' Sweeps Hiawatha Series

Sixty Degree Club completed a sweep of the End Of Season Claiming Series as he wore down the popular pacesetter, Mission Seelster, and held off Dontstiffthevet in the $13,860 final on Saturday night at Hiawatha Horse Park

Driven by Mark Williams for trainer Kevin Tremblay, Sixty Degree Club advanced first over from fourth and collared Mission Seelster as they entered the stretch. The four-year-old Allamerican Ingot gelding paced home in :29.4 to score the half-length victory in 1:57 over Dontstiffthevet, who followed the winner's cover. Mission Seelster finished a length and a half behind in third.

Sixty Degree Club paid $9.70 to win as the 7-2 third choice. The victory was his third in a row and pushed his lifetime earnings over $30,000.

Willow Glyn, driven by Don Rankin Jr., followed his cover wide and sprinted home to win the $7,240 consolation in a matching time of 1:57 for trainer Terry Oenema and owner Sietse Oenema of Burgessville, Ont. The eight-year-old Village Jiffy gelding paid $5.90 to win as the 2-1 second choice.
