Only Passing Thru (Jimmy Whittemore) took early control hitting the quarter in :27.4. He would use a :29.1 second quarter to hit the half in :57. Majestic Fire (Dan Daley) went first-over just before Only Passing Thru hit three-quarters in 1:25.2.
Spoiler Alert followed in third as they made the turn for home, and he came flying in the stretch to win in 1:54.4. Majestic Fire finished second. Only Passing Thru had to settle for third money.
Spoiler Alert ($8.50) is a six-year-old gelding by Chapter Seven. It was his seventh win this season, and he now has 14 career victories for owner Jeff Hayes and trainer Misty Carey.
Driver Jimmy Whittemore and trainer Marrisa Chadbourne combined for three wins on the night. They finished first with Love Live Laugh ($34.80), Blameitonthenight ($14.60), and JL Wonder Woman ($3.80).
With five live racing days left John MacDonald leads all drivers with 108 wins. Howard Parker is currently sitting in second place with 82 victories ,while Jimmy Whittemore is third with 78 trips to the winner's circle. Leon Bailey is fourth with 43 tallies and Claude Huckabone III rounds out the top five with 36 wins.
John MacDonald also leads all trainers in wins. He currently has 44 victories, one more than Marissa Chadbourne's 43 first-place finishes. Jennifer Lappe is third with 34 wins, one ahead of Homer Hochstetler in fourth with 33. Jessica Okusko is not far behind with 31 wins.
Vernon Downs returns to live harness racing with a 12-race card on Saturday (October 19) at 6:10 p.m.
