Heaven has put a claim in on the The Belan Stables.
Mary Diana 'Di' Belan passed away on Saturday (Oct. 17) at her home with her loving family by her side. Di was predeceased just back in January by her beloved husband Mike of 63 years. Survived by her six sons Mike (Pam), Pat (Donna), Douglas (Cindy), Dennis (Sandy), Tony (Cyndi) and Todd (Liz). Di was a loving and proud grandmother to Mike (Leah), Nikki (Bryan), Kris (Sarah), Breyden (Michelle), Hannah, Cody, Brittney, Kelsey (Joel), Brandy (Derek), Curtis, Brock, Shawna, Jamie, Justine and her cherished great grandchildren Michael, Hailey, Tyler, Nolan, Danton, Dylan, Miller, Levi, Nolan, Myles, Blakelyn and Bobby.
Di loved spending time with her family, being on the farm and scratching in the garden. Di seldom bet at the races but always bought fries with vinegar and ketchup that she made sure to share. Even through her short battle with cancer she made it to Dresden and Leamington Raceway to watch her sons Doug and Dennis’s horses race. She always said they raced great even if they were last. That was her huge heart and always supporting her boys.
The Belan family has lost heavy in 2020 with both Mom and Dad passing, but have had some of the greatest times having them there supporting the horses. As everyone knows even the great sires and mares pass on but their legacies last forever. She has left that in her loving family. Di had six great daughter-in-laws also that she loved as her own and without them her wishes of being at home to die with her boys could not have happened.
Please join Standardbred Canada in offering condolences to the friends and family of Di Belan.
