What do a six-year-old Indiana-bred trotter and a five-year-old Ontario Sired pacer have in common? They each won $6,500 Winners Over events at Rideau Carleton Raceway on Sunday night by three and a quarter lengths.

Southwind Amazon won with on-the-engine tactics from driver Stephane Lareau in the $6,500 feature pace, tripping the timer in 1:55 over Solid Performance (Guy Gagnon) and F Twenty Two (Clark Steacy).

A recent claim by Fabian Vata of Kanata, Ont., Southwind Amazon (Camluck-Artoonist) is now two-for-three for trainer Luc Loyer. Lifetime the five-year-old gelding has won 17 races and more than $227,000 in purses.

Rocky Boy was victorious in the Ottawa-area oval's top trotting class for the first time since May, confidentially striding gate-to-wire for Jacques Beaudoin in 1:57.3 over Cabertoss (Gord Brown) and Michelangelo (Lareau).

Johanne Begin trains Rocky Boy (Rocky Balboa-Graut La Vec), now a 20-time winner. He's owned by Marc Belanger and Stephane Beaudoin of Trois-Rivieres, Que.

Not to be outdone, trainer Gerard Demers scored himself a hat trick at the Ottawa oval with three winners from his stable: Cyndalianne Duc in Race 2, Doing Some Damage in Race 9 and College Major in Race 10.
