Priceless Edition and Home Stretch pulled off mild upsets in their respective Preferred assignments at Western Fair Raceway during Monday’s 12-race program

.

With Simon Allard at the helm, Priceless Edition marched to the lead and didn’t look back en route to a one-length score in the $13,500 Preferred Pace. The six-year-old son of Real Desire chopped out panels of :27, :58.3 and 1:27.2 before kicking home in a :29-second clip en route to the 1:56.2 triumph. Race favourite Secret Weapon (Doug McNair) came first over and fought hard to finish second, with Acceptable Risk (Trevor Henry) chasing cover to finish third.

Trainer Rene Allard shares ownership on the gelding with John Nother of Brampton and John Holmes of Puslinch, ON. The private purchase from earlier this year racked up his 35th lifetime win while pushing his career bankroll to $475,052.

Home Stretch also used front-stepping tactics for trainer/driver Tim Driver to take home top prize in the $13,500 Preferred Trot. The six-year-old son of Valley Victor was parked to the quarter pole in a :28-second clip before going toe-to-toe with Mystical Starlight (Doug McNair) to the mid-way point of the mile in :58.2. Home Stretch drew away by two lengths at the three-quarter pole in 1:27.2 before using a :31-second final quarter to seal the deal by 1-1/4 lengths in 1:58.2. Race favourite Bank President (Trevor Henry) was third-placed-second, with Breewood Gringo (Stephen Loughran) second-placed-third following a pylon violation.

June Durussel of Millington, MI holds the ownership paper on the photogenic performer who made his way to victory lane for the 14th time this season. The 39-time winner has banked $258,947 to date.
