Trainer-driver Steve Main guided Real Samart to a thrilling come-from-behind finish to capture the $10,000 Preferred 2 Pace at Windsor Raceway on Sunday night
.
As Allamerican Comet (Rob Sparling Jr.) carved out swift splits of :26.4, :55.4 and 1:24.3 with favoured Price Val (Brad Forward) working first up, Main was biding his time at the back of the pack and starting his move just before the three-quarter marker. Sitting five lengths back of the pacesetter at the head of the lane, Real Samart's :29.2 closing panel got the job done as he tripped the timer a neck to the good over Allamerican Comet with Artistic Jonathon (Brad Kramer) getting the show cheque.
Real Samart (Real Artist - Samadhis Girl) now has five wins in 22 outings on the season for Main and co-owner Gordon Rains of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. The four-year-old bay sits just shy of $100,000 in lifetime earnings.
One race prior, speedy sophomore E Cagee Kid (Stand Forever - Royal Goddess) ran his win streak to six over a group of conditioned foes for driver Brad Forward, trainer Kurt Kane and owner Todd Meredith of Ottawa Lake, Mich.
