A field of top-class pacers will clash in the $5,100 Preferred 2, headlining the Saturday, Oct. 18 card at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The 12-dash presentation kicks off at 12:30 p.m. (ADT).
Bee Two Bee has been selected as the 5-2 morning line favourite and will start from post five in the race 11 feature for driver Jason Hughes and trainer Ashley Gamester. The eight-year-old son of Sunshine Beach is a seven-time winner this season and comes into the event off a gritty second-place finish in the $50,000 Premier's Cup this past Sunday. Bee Two Bee had his 1:50.1 co-held track record upended that day as Miki Shan N etched his name in the history books with a 1:49.4 mile. Donald MacRae of Vernon Bridge, P.E.I. co-owns Bee Two Bee with Blair MacLauchlan of Charlottetown.
Twin B Tuffenuff, to be driven by Gilles Barrieau, will leave from post three as the 3-1 second choice for the Ron Matheson barn after finishing fourth in the Premier's Cup and runner-up in his last two starts at this level. The 2024 Governor’s Plate champion has hit the board in 14 of 17 seasonal tries as he creeps closer to 50 lifetime wins.
Wind Blown, who has post four for driver Corey MacPherson and trainer Phil Sizer, has been a consistent top-level performer throughout the campaign and has won five of his last six starts.
Another Matheson trainee, House Edge Hanover, who won back-to-back Preferred starts in September, will be driven by Ken Murphy from post two while Malignity and trainer/driver Paul Langille drew post one coming off a pair of conditioned class victories including a lifetime best 1:52.1 score this past Sunday.
The "Post Time Picks" has Bee Two Bee on top: “When you look at the stats, Bee Two Bee has had a dynamite season and has visited the winner’s circle seven times. He draws post five and the 'Blue Knight' knows him best so expect them to hit the wire first and be smiling for the camera.”
The Saturday card includes a $3,500 In Memory of Jerome Campbell Pace in race six, where Sports Teller (Adam Merner) is the 5-2 morning line favourite, with Allaboutthecash (Brady Sweet) and Neptune Seelster (Paul Langille) among the top contenders.
