The ‘King’ of Island racing was on top of his game Saturday afternoon holding the hot hands including scoring with Dreamfair Zenfire in the Atlantic Aged Pacing Mares Series final, presented by Standardbred Canada, at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Marc Campbell steered Dreamfair Zenfire for her fifth straight win while capturing the $15,117 Atlantic Aged Pacing Pacing Mares final in a 1:54.2 clocking. Leaving from Post 1, Dreamfair Zenfire was first to the lead in a :29.1 opening quarter before releasing fellow Campbell trainee Arc Light (Adam Merner) to the front before the :57.1 half-mile marker. Lyons Jennielee (Myles Heffernan Sr.) completed the triactor. Ryan and Everett MacLeod of Souris co-own the winning daughter of Sunfire Blue Chip.
Campbell also found the wire first with Eagle Jolt (1:56.4) and Jetster (1:56.1) from his own stable and with the Earl Watts trained Shadow Of A Daut (1:56) to continue his sizeable lead in the Red Shores Charlottetown driver’s standings for the 11th straight year.
