Northlands Park kicks off its Fall meet with a full weekend of harness racing beginning on Friday evening featuring four Premiers Stakes divisions for two-year-old pacers.
First race post time on Friday is 6 p.m. with the stakes action running from races seven through 10. Each division carries a purse of $25,000.
Alberta Stardust champion Kiss My Crouper and trainer-driver Ryan Grundy will headline the first eight-horse filly field from post two while the streaking Beach Baby gets the nod as the morning line favourite in the other division from post six with Keith Clark driving for trainer Harold Haining.
Early favourite Big N Bad will look to break his maiden in the first colt division from post three with Jim Marino on hand to drive for conditioner Lance Ward. Meanwhile, Premium Attaction, who is hoping to expand his current three-race win streak which includes Alberta Lonestar and Shooting Star victories, will have to overcome the outside post six in the final division for colts for trainer, driver and co-owner Kelly Hoerdt.
Racing will continue on Saturday at 6 p.m. with three-year-old pacers starring in their final Alberta Sires Stakes events of the regular season and older pacers facing off in eliminations for the The Albertan and Alberta Rose. Opening weekend will conclude with a Sunday card beginning at 1 p.m.
