Harrington Hosts DSBF Second Leg

The second leg of Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund stakes action for two-year-old pacers is in the books after seven divisions Monday evening at Harrington Raceway. There were four divisions for fillies and three for colts

Ed Walls’ Designer Bags ($2.10, Allan Davis) completed a sweep of her elims with a 1:58.3 front end win in the first division. The Roddys Bags Again filly improved to 4-for-6 in her career for trainer David Rearic.

Badlands Racing and Leblanc Racing’s No Picnic ($2.10, Ross Wolfenden) was also a repeat elimination winner for trainer Steve Leblanc. The Badlands Hanover filly scored a 1:57.2 triumph for her third win in five career starts.

The third filly division was the fastest of the night and went to Pres Burris and David Hanauer’s Genies Genie ($8, Tony Morgan). Genies Genie parlayed a two-hole trip to victory in 1:57.1 for the second straight start for trainer Lorie Davis. A daughter of Badlands Hanover, both of her career wins have come in DSBF action.

The final filly division was won by Ben Stafford’s Mama Said ($5.20, Ben Stafford Jr.) who broke her maiden with a 1:59.1 win. She was the third Badlands Hanover filly to taste victory Monday of the four divisions for trainer Ben Stafford.

Meanwhile, Gary and Barbara Iles’ Shaving Mug ($2.20, Montrell Teague) was the first of the colt winners with a convincing 1:56.1 score. It was one of six winners on the card for trainer George Teague and driver Montrell Teague. Shaving Mug and stablemate Majorly Bad ($4) both won their divisions impressively as the ladder was a 1:56.4 victor for owner/trainer George Teague. Both are sired by Badlands Hanover.

Flying Instructor ($3.40, Eddie Davis, Jr.) was a first-over winner in his elimination, powering to a 1:56.1 victory for trainer Wayne Givens. The Badlands Hanover colt notched his third win of the year.

In the overnight feature, Jeremys Successor ($16.80, Sean Bier) prevailed in the $22,500 Open in 1:52.3.
