After a solid return to action two weeks back, 2024 Somebeachsomewhere Horse of the Year Chantilly continued to prepare for the racing wars with another qualifying victory on Friday, Oct. 16 at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

A total of six qualifying dashes were contested under the less than ideal conditions with Chantilly entered for the second time this season. The Millar Farms-owned homebred last competed in a pari-mutuel races nearly a year ago, finishing seventh in the 2025 Breeders Crown.

On Friday morning, Chantilly sat second for driver James MacDonald as Angostura Hanover (Des Tackoor) fronted the field through fractions of  :29.3, :58 and 1:26. In the lane, MacDonald right-lined Chantilly and she responded willingly to forge past a stubborn pacesetter and prevail in 1:53.1. Angostura Hanover finished a half length back in second with Big Nipper (Trevor Henry) rounding out the top trio.

Trained by Nick Gallucci, Chantilly (Big Jim-Shiraz Seelster) sports a career summary of 15-1-0 from 20 starts with a mark of 1:49.4 and $1.3 million in earnings.
