Racing off a two-month layoff, Distant Drums was as aggressive as ever as he rolled to his ninth straight victory in Wednesday’s feature at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows, a $17,808 conditioned trot.
Using Lasix for the first time, Distant Drums found himself seated behind the leader, Crantini, at the half. But rather than enjoy a pocket trip off his stale date, the five-year-old Trixton-Altar Gal gelding powered to the point for Mike Wilder, bringing Threepointbluechip in tow. Distant Drums downed Threepointbluechip by 1-3/4 lengths in 1:54.2 while Crantini saved show.
Sarah Andrews trains Distant Drums for Matthew Miller.
Wilder and trainer Dirk Simpson each fashioned a triple on the 13-race card.
Live harness racing at The Meadows continues on Thursday when the program features a $1,944.27 carryover in the Early Pentafecta. First post is 12:45 p.m.
